Can someone give me tips and hints for indoor tanning??
I've been tanning for almost a month now. I'm getting good color, but would like to keep this color until July but don't know if I should tan all that time!!! And if you have any advice on getting a better tan, hard to reach areas and all that stuff, please let me know!! Thanks.
Moisturize!!!!! The more you moisturize the longer your tan will last.
Use an indoor tanning lotion that they have at the salon. The reason why is that if you don't use one, the first half while you are in the booth/bed, the rays are actually reflecting off your skin while your skin is trying to get used to them. If you use an indoor tanning lotion then your skin absorbs the rays as soon as you get in there. Basically, if you don't use a lotion, you are really only tanning for half of the time that you are in there.
You can achieve a better tan by using indoor tanning lotions that contain DHA (sunless tanner) in them.
Have you noticed that your legs aren't as tan as the rest of your body? That is because women shave their legs and because of that we are constantly shaving off the skin cells on the top layer of our legs! Try not to shave unless you NEED to. Also you can try using a lotion that contains a tingle in it on your legs. I only recommend tingles for people who have trouble with getting their legs tanner or for people who have reached their plateau and want to get darker. Tingles aren't for everyone; if you want to try one make sure you start with one that is a low level. Tingles make your skin produce more melanin (the cells that turn brown once they get oxidized) and gives you a deeper tan. Along with that though, tingles can make your skin look red and feel hot to the touch once you are done tanning (depending on the level). This "sensation" can last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. If you don't like the "sensation" you can always get a lotion that contains a menthol along with a tingle because the menthol cancels out the "sensation".
