Taking part in a bodybuilding competition can be intense and a little scary if you haven't done it before. Your first decision should involve what type of competition and in what division or weight class you should compete. You will find competitions for teens, men and women. Much the same as boxing there are weight classes for all three divisions separately and together.
You should think about which weight division will offer you the best benefit. Choosing a lower weight division than you normally do can end up causing you to lose muscle mass and in effect weaken your true strength. You are more likely to meet your weight loss goal if you enter into a class that reflects the weight you really want to be at as this will motivate you to meet that goal. The best idea is to enter a competition division that is normal for you in peak condition. When it comes to bodybuilding, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. For example, they may have great arms but need to work on their legs. Working on your weak areas is vital because bodybuilding competitions demand balance.
