Is my tanning salon safe/normal? What about tanning lotion?
I am wondering if my tanning salon is safe. I have noticed that some of the beds have large cracks in the plexiglass on top. I asked about it and the lady told me that was normal...I don't really believe her. You also have to clean your own bed...makes me wonder how really clean the beds are. Would you recommend finding a different salon? I don't really know what to look for in a tanning bed. Also, do tanning lotions help? A friend told me it made Tanning Beds safer? I didn't think that was possible. Thanks so much!
I know tanning beds are really bad! I actually haven't gone ever and I'm 24 years old. Had some spray tans, but they turned out horribly, but realized I liked being tan so sucked it up for a little bit and went to tanning bed. I am also scared to be in the bed, so I wanted to make sure where I am going is ok. Thanks so much for all your opinions!
ok, i have been tanning for about 10 years now, off and on in salons. First, I would not got anywhere where the beds are cracked, this is not safe and the beds should not be used. Second, you should not have to clean your own bed, you are paying for a service. I have never been anywhere that I had to clean my own bed. I would go somewhere else. Prices are going to vary, slightly form place to place, but should be relatively close for the number of minutes you want. Also, if you are tanning in a 20 minute bed, you really only need to go about 15 minutes, once you are up to that. You should start out at 5 or 7 minutes then work your way up, going everyday and once you are up to 15 minutes only going about 3 times a week.
Lotions, there are many different kinds. I like the ones with bronzers in them, they will help you look darker faster. Ones that say "Tingle" tingle. and can make you look red after tanning, or blotchy. Some have cooing in them, so that you don't feel as hot getting out of the bed. They are all different, and it just take a little trial and error to find one or two that you really like~it differs from person to person. But you should use a lotion when tanning, this will help you get and keep your tan.
I only tan from late march, early april till it is warm enough for me to be outside to tan. That is just me, some people go all the time.Spray tanning is something you may want to look at, I have never used it so I can't tell you much, except that you don't have to worry about skin damage, or finding lotions. The only thing I worry about is if you are having someone tan you that they know what they are doing, some places have a booth that you step into with sprayers.
I hope this helps, and I really suggets going someplace else to tan, where you are going doesn't sound safe.
