How To Use A Sunless Tanning Lotion Properly
In order to get a tan, you'll need to lie in the sun or a tanning bed. However, there are now sunless tanning lotions that you can use instead. Before using one of these products, it's important that you keep a few things in mind. If you're interested in learning how to use these lotions properly, make sure you keep reading.
Before using one of these lotions, you need to check on the condition of your skin. You don't want to apply the product on a layer of dead skin, since it will drastically reduce its effectiveness. Therefore, before you use sunless tanning lotions, it's best that you exfoliate your skin a few days in advance.
You should also try to keep your skin as moisturized as possible before applying this lotion. Dry skin won't be as receptive to sunless tanning lotions. They'll be much more effective if your skin is moisturized properly. Your knees and ankles are areas that you should especially pay close attention to.
Whenever you're applying a sunless tanning lotion, you shouldn't use your hands to do so. You should strongly consider using a sponge or brush instead. It's a mistake to be in a rush when applying this type of product.
You need to avoid heat when using these lotions too. You won't get a quality tan if you apply the lotion on sweaty skin. You'll need to take time to cool down if you've just gotten out of the shower.
Certain areas of your body will result in darker spots. Therefore, you should use less sunless tanning lotion on these areas. Another option would be to dilute the sunless tanning lotion with moisturizer just for these areas.
It's important that you wait to put on your clothes after applying this lotion. You wouldn't want your clothes to get stained. If you have lighter colored clothes, this can especially be a problem. Giving the lotion 15 minutes or so to dry is best.
Make sure that you choose a quality product to use too. Before applying the lotion on your entire body, check the results on a small area first. All products work differently and you wouldn't want to do your whole body only to be unhappy with the results.
